On the evening of June 5th lightning struck Bighorn mountain in the Santa Catalina mountains north of Tucson, the Bighorn Fire had begun to burn. Over the next 48 days, the fire raged through the entire mountain range, burning nearly 120,000 acres. This week on Arizona Illustrated we examine the causes, impact, and future of the burn areas in the Santa Catalina mountains.
